Playground GrantsIf your school or community is badly in need of a new playground, you may be eligible to receive a playground grant to help replace or repair your aging equipment or to fund your new playground project. Many of these grants are available through the manufacturers and retailers of playground equipment themselves, but these almost always fund the purchase of equipment from their own company’s catalogs. Grants are also available from the non-profit sector with less restrictive uses for grant monies. These are traditionally funded through corporate and community sponsorship of the non-profit’s playground programs.

Non-Profit Grants

While they are not a direct grant-making foundation, they are sometimes able to offer grants with the help of funding partnerships with companies such as Dr Pepper Snapple, Carmax, Met Life, Jet Blue and Disney. Kaboom maintains a list of available community partnerships and work with those looking to accomplish a local project with community partners in their area when available. Kaboom also offers online training on planning and execution of playground projects. It offers instruction on building your playground and provides a list of reputable manufacturers of playground equipment.

Manufacturer Issued Grants
Most manufacturers of playground equipment offer playground grants for the purchase of their own playground and recreation equipment. These grants can be considered to be discounts for the purchase of new equipment. Each of these manufacturers offer a grant guide or resource program and since they work in the field of building playgrounds they are very familiar with resources available to school and community groups looking to fund playground projects. They will also work with your group to help organize your own fund-raising for your playground project should funding it completely thought grants become impossible.
